Chiropractic Care for Children and Pediatrics
There is a reason Dr. David Adler named his practice Adler Family Chiropractic when he opened the doors to his Roswell practice 25 years ago: He sees the unique role a chiropractor can play in the lives of our children.
“If it were up to me, every patient of mine would have to bring their kids in with them to have their spines checked,” says Dr. David Adler. And when you walk into his office, you’ll see that a lot of them do.
“As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.”
Almost every day, in some context, Dr. Adler is able to work his favorite quote into a discussion with a patient, and that metaphor rings true with our kids. Every pediatric patient faces a unique set of challenges – challenges Dr. Adler has been seeing and treating with chiropractic adjustments for his entire career.
In fact, it was almost 20 years ago that Dr. Adler delivered the most important adjustment of his life: That very first one to his newborn son, Joshua, and then a few years later to his daughter, Amanda – both of whom who have been under care their entire lives. When you make that first appointment for your own children at Adler Family Chiropractic, know that you are getting the same care and attention that Dr. Adler gives to his own children; and it isn’t just his personal beliefs.
Research has proven that spinal manipulations by a chiropractor are not only safe for children, but beneficial to their current health and future development. Dr. Adler's experience treating all ages of adolescence from infancy to the teen age years makes him an excellent choice for your chiropractor for children.
Adler Family Chiropractic is currently accepting new pediatric patients from the Roswell, Alpharetta, Johns Creek and Cumming areas in North Fulton County, GA. Booking online is quick and easy.

Frequently Asked Questions about Chiropractic Care for Pediatric Patients
Before we can answer any questions, there are some terms you need to know. Dr. Adler specializes in the detection and correction of the “Vertebral Subluxation Complex.” Vertebral subluxation is a condition where spinal vertebrae are not in the correct alignment and create changes in the ability of the nervous system to communicate with the rest of the body clearly both from the brain to the body and the body back to the brain. This causes a less than optimal function and adaptability of the body.
So why does my child need to see a chiropractor?
Bumps, bruises, falls … It’s all a part of growing up. But it’s also contributes to minor injuries often disregarded in children. These minor injuries can – and do – cause mis-alignments in the spine. Things that are not even considered at your Pediatrician’s check ups. These mis-alignments in the spine – what we call subluxations – can lead to back pain, neck pain, headaches, and all sorts of other symptoms that will only get worse over time. Dr. Adler can quickly determine if your child needs to be adjusted. He has been working with children for over 28 years, and getting them in proper alignment will put them back on track for ideal development.
Is it safe?
If you’ve been to the chiropractor before, you might think you know what an adjustment is. But the adjustments performed on children are a lot different. The younger and smaller the child, the lighter and more delicate the adjustment is. As Dr. Adler himself says, “The adjustments I perform on children are often done with nothing more than a fingertip.” He’s treated children as young as 2 days old, with great results.
Why would you need to adjust newborns?
The answer is simple: The birthing process, especially when assisted by the obstetrician, can be very traumatic to the newborn’s head and neck. Research has shown that conditions like SIDS, asthma, colic and ear infections are highly associated with this region of the spine.
“From birth, the spine can be out of position, and that child’s ability to grow with balance and symmetry is immediately thrown off. We see children with head tilt to the left or with rotation to the right, and it’s typical, but that doesn’t mean it’s normal. At every stage of development, from birth to crawling to walking, there are falls and tumbles that most people disregard because after some tears, you console them and everything seems ok. But it’s not. They can cause issues. There’s so much that chiropractic care can do for our children.” - Dr. David N. Adler
How long will they need care?
Our children are ever-changing, both physically and socially. Children rarely sit still, so the periodic re-exam and visit would help us keep track of any new and potentially harmful issues that may have arisen since their last visit. Another thing harming our children these days is the early introduction of cell phones and iPads, which is being shown to cause all sorts of issues with posture and neck pain.
