It's Back to School 2025!
As kids head back to school, backpacks get filled and so can their risk of back injury. Carrying heavy or poorly worn backpacks can cause posture issues, muscle strain, and even long-term spinal problems.
Quick Tips for Backpack Safety:
Keep it Light
A backpack should weigh no more than 10–15% of your child’s body weight.
Use Both Straps
Always have them wear both shoulder straps to distribute weight evenly.
Fit it Right
The backpack should rest no lower than 4 inches below the waist. Straps should be snug, not loose.
Pack Smart
Place heavier items close to the back and use all compartments to balance the load.
Choose Wisely
Look for padded straps, multiple compartments, and chest or waist straps for extra support.
Watch for Warning Signs:
Complaints of back, shoulder, or neck pain
- Tingling or numbness in the arms
- Changes in posture
If you notice any of these, a chiropractic checkup can help.
